Three coaches and the engine of Aurangabad Hyderabad passenger train derailed in Karnataka in the early hours today, an official of the South Central Railway (SCR) said.

No one was injured in the mishap, he said.

A high-level inquiry has been ordered by the SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav to to investigate the incident.

The train derailed between Kalagapur and Bhalki stations in Karnataka on the Parli-Vikarabad section of Secunderabad division at around 1.50 AM today, SCR's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) M Uma Shankar Kumar said, adding that all the train passengers are safe.

The general manager has set up a committee comprising chief transportation manager/General, chief motive power engineer/Diesel, chief safety officer, chief security commissioner and chief track engineer of SCR, which will submit its report after investigation, a release said.

Yadav rushed to the spot to monitor relief measures and supervise the restoration work for bringing back normalcy to train operations at the earliest.

"Over 500 passengers travelling by the train were evacuated to Kalgupur, from where special buses were arranged to transport them to Bidar. Their further travel towards Hyderabad was arranged by the Bidar- Hyderabad Intercity Express," the release quoted Kumar as saying.

Railway Protection Force was deputed to take care of the security of passengers and their baggage, while other staff took care of their comfort and convenience.

At the spot of derailment, the switch expansion joint, plate screws, nuts and brackets of the track were found in open condition without any damage mark, the release said.

Acting upon the suspected conditions at the spot, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Karnataka Police personnel took up investigation with the help of dog squads.

"After clearance from the Police, the restoration work will be finished on a war footing to bring train services in the section back to normal," the CPRO added.

The Bidar-Hyderabad Intercity Express is rescheduled to accommodate the passengers of the derailed train, he said.

Because of the derailment, Hyderabad-Purna Passenger (no. 57547) is cancelled for today, while Hyderabad-Aurangabad Passenger (no. 57549) is partially cancelled between Bidar and Aurangabad.

Besides, Sainagar Siridi to Kakinada Port (no. 17205) train has been diverted to run via Parbhani, Purna, Nanded, Nizamabad and Secunderabad.

Train No. 16593 Nanded-Bengaluru Express is diverted to run via Mudkhed, Nanded, Nizamabad, Secunderabad and Vikarabad.

Train No. 57548 Purna-Hyderabad Passenger is diverted to run via Mudkhed, Nanded, Nizamabad and Secunderabad.
