STAFF WRITER 15:21 HRS IST

New York, Nov 7 (PTI) Want to recover early from your ailment? Consult a caring doctor as a new research found that empathetic physicians speed up the process of healing.

Observing patients in a randomised controlled trial, researchers at the University Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health found that those patients who were attended by caring doctors recovered faster than those whose physicians were thorough professional.

According to the study, the patients, who were suffering from cold and cough, took in an average seven days to recover under a sympathetic doctor while others took an extra day in recovery.

The doctors' empathy also boosted the patients' immune system, journal Family Medicine reported.
