STAFF WRITER 14:29 HRS IST

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 7 (PTI) An average 25 to 30 per cent polling was recorded till noon in the assembly bypolls to Kannur, Ernakulam and Alappuzha constituencies in Kerala.

The polling in politically-sensitive Kannur segment is taking place under strict surveillance of central paramilitary forces.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer here, while Kannur recorded 25 per cent polling, Ernakulam and Alappuzha recorded 26 and 30 per cent voting respectively till noon.

The main contest in all the three segments is between the ruling LDF and Congress-led UDF.

The bypolls were necessitated following the election of Congress MLAs, who held the respective seats, to the Lok Sabha.
